I thought I would use this post to tell you a little about me. First and foremost, I am a mom of three – and they are by far the most gorgeous and hilarious kids I have ever met. (Although, let’s be honest, what mom doesn’t think that??) I have a wonderful, supportive husband who allows me to pursue my passions and basically just play and have fun for a living.
I would like to say that I entered the Beauty World 10 years ago, but that would be inaccurate. I remember being 6 years old and watching my Grandmother apply her red lipstick (and then sneaking into her bathroom to play with it myself). I remember being 12 and trying to figure out how much makeup was appropriate to wear in Grade 8. I remember being 15 and standing over a friend, holding a very fuzzy wax strip in my hand, and feeling immense joy.
So I guess I should say that I ventured into the Professional Beauty World about 8 years ago. I had the great privilege of studying under very talented Artists and Estheticians, a few in particular who took me under their wings and taught me that a passion for this art form is as important as impeccable technique.
Over the years, I have worked hard to master my skills and learn to truly understand what my clients are asking of me. I’ve learned that when someone says ‘Smokey Eye’, it is usually just referring to a darker colour and not necessarily something you’d see on a red carpet. I’ve also learned that women, in particular, have very skewed views of themselves. And when they step out of my chair, they don’t want to look in the mirror and not recognize the person staring back at them.
Make up is meant to reflect each individual – who they are on the inside and how they want to portray themselves at that given moment. And it is my job to understand and deliver your vision so when you look in that mirror, you see YOU – but looking and feeling your very best.
